Education, Professional Practice and Innovation Centre (EPPIC)

The EPPIC team strives for excellence in clinical teaching and learning, to support health professionals in the provision of exceptional care to children and families. 

The Tresillian EPPIC team is responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of education and learning for nurses working at Tresillian, in the NSW Ministry of Health Sustaining NSW Families Program, and other health care facilities in NSW and the ACT. The EPPIC team have experience providing evidenced based education on several different programs and workshops including:

• Sleep and settling
• Infant feeding
• Infant mental health
• HOME Inventory
•  Family Partnership training
•  A variety of programs from Parent-Child Relationship Programs at the Barnard Center (University of Washington, Seattle)
  • Keys to Caregiving
  • Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) Feeding and Teaching Scales
  • Promoting Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy

 The EPPIC team support Tresillian staff to develop their clinical skills based on the latest evidence, policies, and guidelines. The team provide support for newly qualified nurses employed on the Tresillian GradStart program and staff employed on the Tresillian Specialty Transition Program for Child and Family Health nurses.

The EPPIC team collaborate with several tertiary institutions to provide clinical placements for undergraduate nursing students and students undertaking post graduate studies in Child and Family Health.  In addition, the team supports learning through the provision of unit based in-service, support for mandated learning requirements, coordination of orientation and induction at unit level, and education consultation.  Some members of the team also support clinical teams with the provision of Tresillian’s Facilitating Attuned Interactions (FAN) reflective practice and supervision program.

Learning and development offerings are supported from clinical services who employ clinical nurse specialists, who actively contribute to the development of clinical practice in the ward/unit/service and act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to others in relation to clinical practice; clinical nurse consultants also support staff  with professional practice and skill development.
